Australia provides assistance to cold-affected victims in Northern Bangladesh

The Australian High Commissioner Douglas Foskett is handing over a cheque to Zillar Rahman of TMSS

In response to the seasonal hardship caused by the extremely cold weather in northern Bangladesh, the Australian High Commission has provided Tk 700,500 under its Direct Aid Program 2006-07 to the "Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS)" to purchase and distribute blankets and warm clothing to the severely affected poor people in the hardest hit districts. The purchase of the blankets and clothing will assist over two thousand people. The donation was made following an approach to TMSS by the High Commission to assist those most affected by the cold.

The Australian High Commissioner, Douglas Foskett handed over a cheque to Zillar Rahman, Head of Finance, TMSS on 23 January 2007.
