Contemporary Australian Art Exhibition Opens Today
The Australian High Commission in association with Gallery Cosmos will launch an indigenous art exhibition, BALGO: Contemporary Australian Art from the Balgo Hills, today at 6.00pm (Friday 1 April) at Gallery Cosmos in Malibagh.
Mr. Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP, Chairman of Bangladesh Australia Parliamentary Friendship Association will inaugurate the exhibition. Eminent artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma and renowned art critic Prof. Syed Manzoorul Islam will be present as special guests along with the owner of Gallery Cosmos Mr. Enayet Khan and the Australian High Commissioner.
Featuring some of the finest pieces of contemporary Australian indigenous art ever to go international, the exhibition will showcase 26 original paintings and etchings by 18 renowned indigenous Australian artists from the remote Balgo hills region in Western Australia.
An acclaimed travelling exhibition, “Balgo” has already been shown in more than 15 countries including New Zealand, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal and more recently in India and Sri Lanka. The exhibition is scheduled to visit South Korea and Latin America after Dhaka.
The exhibition will be open for all from April 01 -13 at Galley Cosmos, 69/1 New Circular Road, Malibagh from 11 am to 6.00 pm (except on Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm to 7pm).
