Australia donates NGO to provide assistive devices and support to the disabled

“There is now common consensus about the inextricable links between disability, poverty and development; and we all should work together to address this issue and support Bangladesh in achieving its development goals”, said the Australian High Commissioner in Bangladesh, Mr Douglas Foskett.

Mr Foskett emphasized the need to integrate disabled people into mainstream society while handing over a cheque of Taka 4.9 Lac to Mr Rafiqul Islam from the NGO Good Earth. The Australian High Commission provided the amount to Good Earth under its Direct Aid Program. The funding will be used to provide necessary therapeutic services, assistive devices, as well as vegetable seeds for cultivation within the homestead of more than two hundred people of Kachua Upazila in Chandpur district.

Deputy High Commissioner Ms Kilmeny Beckering Vinckers and Senior Political & Economic Officer Ms S Farhana Rahman were also present during the ceremony.
